Dr. G.S. Ramesh, MD, F.A.C.P., A.G.A.F, is Board Certified in Gastroenterology. He is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston.

Dr. Ramesh has been in practice for over 25 years in the field of gastroenterology and liver diseases. He has done many educational programs for physicians in the community. Senior medical students from McGovern Medical School at UT Houston rotate with him on a monthly basis.

Q&A With Dr. Ramesh

Question: Why Did You Get Into Healthcare?

Dr. Ramesh: During my freshman year in college, I visited a hospital with a friend who was studying to be a doctor. I followed him while he made rounds at the hospital facility with interns and residents. At the end of his rotation, I changed my mind from engineering to medicine, especially since I could help people with their medical illnesses. The satisfaction I get from a patient who has a full recovery cannot be put in words.

Question: What Drew You To Gastroenterology?

Dr. Ramesh: My first rotation was in gastroenterology. It was fascinating looking into the human body without surgery, and this increased my interest
